Racket sports
Table tennis, badminton, tennis: about two years each, one club per sport, and only one racket that still comes out. Since around 2013.

These are the only sports on this list with an opponent across the net, and that is probably why they sit alongside chess. A lost point has a cause you can name, and the next game starts right after.
The first rackets date from around 2013. Table tennis is the most practised of the three: two years in a club, and much more with family, for fun, on a table that required neither a licence nor a booking. Badminton was played outside any club, two years in middle school PE and two years at ENSIIE in the school association. Tennis, one year in a club, and since then a few games among friends, with no regularity.
None of the three is a competitive practice, and that is better written than guessed. What remains is occasional tennis, and the fact that an opponent across the net changes everything: you are not playing against a distance or a clock, you are playing against someone who also has a plan.
